BTS Light Stick Ver.4 Won’t Connect or Update? Try These Official Steps

Bluetooth not pairing? Firmware update stuck? Here is the official Ver.4 app flow and the first checks to make before assuming your ARMY Bomb is broken.

Start with the official Ver.4 app. BTS Official Light Stick Ver.4 has its own mobile app, and HYBE’s instructions for Ver.4 are different from the older BTS Official Lightstick app used for previous versions.

1. Make sure you installed the Ver.4 app

Search for “BTS Official Light Stick Ver.4” in the Apple App Store or Google Play. The official app is published by HYBE.

If you are using Ver.4 with an older lightstick app, switch to the Ver.4 app before troubleshooting anything else.

2. Put the light stick into Bluetooth mode

According to the official Ver.4 app notice, with the light stick turned off, press and hold the buttons on the handle together for about two seconds to enter Bluetooth mode.

Then use the Ver.4 app to connect.

3. If firmware will not update, check the batteries first

BIGHIT’s firmware notice says a firmware update cannot proceed if the light stick battery is low. Replace the batteries with three new AAA alkaline batteries, then try the firmware update again.

4. Update the app before trying again

The official notices repeatedly tell fans to use the latest light-stick app version and the latest firmware. If pairing worked before but fails after an app or firmware change, update both before assuming the hardware is defective.

5. Concert syncing and simple Bluetooth pairing are not the same thing

Ver.4 supports concert wireless control, but concert operation depends on the specific event and its announced setup. For concerts where seat pairing or a concert mode is required, follow the event-specific notice rather than assuming a normal Bluetooth connection is enough.

6. Older light sticks are not guaranteed to sync at current shows

BIGHIT announced that starting with the Busan concert on June 12, 2026, wireless concert control is supported only on Ver.4. Older Ver.3 and Special Edition sticks may still turn on, but that is different from being wirelessly synchronized for the show.

Before you buy another one

  • Confirm you have Ver.4, not an older model.
  • Use the Ver.4 app from HYBE.
  • Replace the batteries with three new AAA alkaline batteries.
  • Update the app and firmware.
  • Follow the event-specific concert-mode instructions.

If those checks fail, use Weverse Help rather than relying on random pairing tips from social posts.
